DLRG – Baywatch in Prerow

The DLRG is a volunteer organisation providing seaside lifesaving services. The lifeguards in Prerow use motor boats, quads, and sheer muscle strength to keep the coast safe.

DLRG Prerow ensures that you and your children feel safe on the water. Trained lifeguards and supervisory staff work the beach from May to September from 9–6 each day (sometimes longer or shorter, depending on the weather conditions).

During the main holiday season, all of the lifeguard towers are continuously staffed. Otherwise, at least the pier is continuously staffed between 9 and 6 o’clock.

The DLRG also offers another very special service in Prerow: children can wear a registered, waterproof bracelet on the beach. If they should get, DLRG lifeguards can thus quickly locate the children’s parents. Speak to DLRG staff on-site.

DLRG Ortsgruppe Prerow e.V. was founded in 1990 by about twenty ambitious lifeguards. Today it has almost 100 members. They are also on staff during harbour festivals or Drachenbootrennen (dragon boat races), whenever the waterways must be protected or if the police ask for their assistance.
